Parker Salinas

Ok, where was I? Oh yes, now I remember! It's November 20th and I am in Kokomo shooting Parker Salinas for some very hurried and much belated Senior Pictures. Being a star basketball player for Kokomo keeps you very busy and there has been no time to attend to his requisite photo session until now. We head up to "the park", I put on my gloves and we get to work.

The Hansen Family

Brian Hansen is a good friend of mine and I have had the pleasure of photographing his lovely family before. The girls are always so excited about the whole deal (maybe Mom too?).

It soon becomes apparent why the girls are so pretty...

And why they are so goofy!

But most importantly, I make sure the girls get plenty of time to play, show-off and be themselves.

I am looking forward to the next time already.

Fahrenbruch Triplets!

Ever try to wrestle an octopus into a bag? Make that three of them and you might understand why you cannot ask three adorable babies to sit still for you. No matter, we are all together and we must find magic!

Today is their baptism, so they are all dressed for the occasion. While we are at the church, their mother Michelle says she would like some nice pictures of the babies outside. It is starting to sprinkle a little bit, but I noticed a small retention pond in one corner of the property. I asked them for a blanket, so their clothes wouldn't get ruined before the big ceremony. We enlisted the help of several "handlers" i.e. cousins to help keep the babies situated while I grabbed the shots. Well let's just say the handlers earned their money. They were never able to get far from the action as one baby or another would always need adjusting.

Michelle and her family are a great bunch of people. They are just one of those families that you bond with easily. This is my second opportunity to work with them and it is always a pleasure. I am sure Kennedy, Carli and Nicholas have already realized what I am talking about.

Miss Indiana 2005, Susan (Guilkey) Beckwith

Have you ever been asked by a certified beauty queen to take her pictures for an advertising campaign she is involved with? No? Well here's how it goes, at first you are delighted that you were asked, then immediately you start to sweat because you know she has been photographed by quite a few very capable and talented photographers and you get the feeling she is hoping you will raise the bar this time. Otherwise, why not ask one of them? I'm just sayin'.

Working with Susan was a great experience. When the lights come on and the camera is out of the bag, she is on and fully capable of bringing it. Pray you don't get a cramp in your trigger finger as you try to keep up with her. I actually blew the power pack to my studio strobes from cycling too many times. I can't say that has ever happened to me before. So many great looks, it seemed there was no effort on her part, at all.

Thank you Susan.

What's In A Name?

It seems I have a recurring problem. I have a common name, Bill Anderson. While I don't personally know anyone with my name, they are out there. I know at one time I was one of three in my local phone book with the same middle initial. Yes, there is a country singer with my name, currently he sits at the top of the heap as he owns billanderson.com. If one day I should acquire that domain, then I could (dare I say it?) rule the WORLD!

If you Googled photographers named Bill Anderson, I am sorry to say, I would not be the first one you would find, but I am working on that one.

So, a few months ago, I had created a blog for my long standing portrait business, Pictures of You. I had created the blog, but had neglected to post anything to it before today. I couldn't find it. I thought to do a Google search for it and do you know what I found? There are three other people operating their business under that name. Alas, none of them own the domain picturesofyou.com. So it would seem I have my work cut out for me in climbing the Google search peak for this facet of my business as well.

I have been in business under the name of Pictures of You since 1993. I have documents of name registration in the city of Indianapolis from that same year.
I have secured the domains for picturesofyouphoto.com and picturesofyouphotography.com. When I went to re-create this blog today, I had to again come up with a unique twist to the name for Blogger to accept it. Thus "theoriginalpicturesofyou.blogspot.com is created.

Now I don't have to be the biggest Bill Anderson or Pictures of You in the world. As long as my geographic area recognizes me as the only Bill Anderson Photography and Pictures of You, it will be ok. Who's to say I can't grow that geographic circle of influence over time? Watch out all you newcomers, I'm gunning for you.
